"We've worked with [our nurse] and the other HHAs working with mother (and) while they cared for our aunt. The experience was completely satisfactory - beyond what we could have expected."
With the growing number of home health care companies in the Twin Cities area; How do you choose the one that is right for you? This can be a daunting task requiring a significant amount of time and energy. Our clients and their families tell us we are different. Here are a few things for you to consider in your decision-making process.
We believe it all starts at the top. Matrix is a privately owned Minnesota company and not a national or local franchise. Our business was built from the ground up and we have been operating in Minnesota since 1987.
Matrix is owned and run by a hands-on Register Nurse with a Master’s degree in Nursing and over 30 years of experience in gerontological nursing and end-of-life care. This is important because every home health care company in Minnesota is required to have a Registered Nurse whose license is used to validate the business. Companies owed by a business person usually rely on an employee’s nursing license creating a potential conflict between profit and care. At Matrix, we use our owner’s license, eliminating any conflict and allowing the care of your loved one to be our number one priority.
Our Matrix nurses are expected to build a lasting relationship with each client and their family. This practice has worked so well that many families consider our nurse to be a family member. We realize that providing good care encompasses the physical, mental, emotional and spiritual needs of both the client and the family and we strive to meet those needs on a daily basis.
At Matrix, we set very high expectations for our caregivers. All newly employed Home Health Aides (HHA) are required to have a current Certified Nursing Assistant (CNA) certificate indicating they have received the proper formal training and continue to meet the requirements to hold this certificate. All of our caregivers are required to complete 12 hours of training each year – this is above the state requirement of 8 hours. In addition to the state required background check, Matrix performs a driving history check, a national criminal and social security check and a 10-panel drug screen.
Our caregiver compensation also sets Matrix apart. We believe our compensation should match the expectations placed on our caregivers and that the top quality caregivers should be compensated for being the best.
While our people set us apart, the way we do business also sets us apart and this all starts with availability.
We’re there for you! is our company tag line and we truly mean it. We are a 24/7/365 business with continuous information, nursing and staffing support because we know that life doesn’t happen during “normal business hours.”
And our availability isn’t only for active clients. Matrix is there for you in whatever capacity we can provide help!
Matrix uses a team based approach to care giving meaning that our clients can expect to be cared for by the same team of caregivers and nurse. This approach not only improves care continuity, but it also reduces the number of new faces our clients’ need to adjust to. We also allow clients to interview and select caregivers if they choose to. This really ensure you an exceptional match.
